about
Ursula Fink
I am a dance-based artist/ choregrapher and embodiment facilitator located close to Vienna, Austria.

I create experiential spaces that invite the beholder  to interact, become part of the artwork and  question everyday realities and narratives.

As embodiment facilitator Iam interweaving somatic research with artistic practises.( Listening Body practise,  movingintopresence.at)

On the intersection between art and science, utopia and urban space I am dealing with  the mechanics of construction/ deconstruction and embodiment of human perception and identity. This is the starting point for performative installations, site specific work and interventions in public space, which can employ an interdisciplinary and variational range of media.

I am a dance-based artist /choregrapher and embodiment facilitator located close to Vienna, Austria.
I studied Contemporary Dance in Austria&Finland and  I am holding a masters degree in Psychology (University of Vienna).

I believe in embodiment and it´s importance for the individual and collective to remember the future and find ourselves in the infinite now.

On the intersection between art and science, utopia and urban space I am dealing with  the mechanics of construction/ deconstruction and embodiment of human perception and identity. This is the starting point for performative installations, site specific work and interventions in public space, which employ an interdisciplinary and variational range of media.

Interest

I create experiential spaces that invite the beholder  to interact, become part of the artwork and  question everyday realities and narratives.

Dealing with public space, I am  interested in sites of transition, in both physical and metaphysical contexts.  Elevators, train stations,  corridors, escaltors ..become stages for bodies of transition.

Research Topics
..largely revolves around the phenomenon of physical listening. how can the phenomenon of listening be extended beyond the organs of hearing to the physical body? how do we process and reproduce information? And how  can this affect political realities, participatory processes and collective intelligence?
o Somatic listening/collective listening/deep listening
o Listening Body practise
Interweaves somatic research and artistic practises, global relations and the inextricable connection between individual, society and the field. See here:  movingintopresence.at
o Contact Improvisation as an artform
Gravity&levity: how do we relate to the earth as a living organism , the gravitational field and space?
oPresence & Absence as human metamodern strategies

1.  CON.Spiration Site specific interactive Installation , Semmelweisklinik 2022

The immersive installation opens the space to bring the etymological investigation of the word con.spiration to an embodied research of breathing together. Between expansion and contraction , full and empty, up and down, in and out the awareness on the somatic expierience of breath is transcending polarities and might gives birth to unprecedented forms of co-creation.

CON derived from the form of -com , used in Latin, is a word-forming element meaning "together, with". S P I R A R E means „to breathe“ according to its etymilogical root, it comes from the latin word breath of a god," hence also "inspiration; breath of life“.
spiritus " breathing, respiration,

CONSPIRE comes from the latin word conspirare "to agree, to join together, to plot," literally "to breathe together." In the late 14th century, the old french word
root conspirer meant as much as to join together maliciously striving or planning to commit a reprehensible act. In 1530, however, the term was also used in the positive sense of "contributing together to a particular result." As well as synonymous with
"blowing together" musical instruments, or "sounding in unison."

Deutsch
